Big Lake graduation rate climbs; far surpasses state average
Big Lake’s graduation rate soared to 95.3% in 2025, an accomplishment that signals significant academic growth for the district.
This rate is up nearly four percentage points from the previous year’s rate (91.5%) and also tops the 2025 record-breaking state average by 10.4 percentage points (84.9%).
This growth did not happen by accident. Over the past few years, the district has been working hard to re-evaluate our instruction, curriculum, and student support systems, working to build a more cohesive model district-wide. Much of these changes have been rooted under the MTSS framework.
MTSS, a system the district began in 2022, helps ensure that every learner receives high-quality, research-based instruction (Tier 1) while providing targeted, additional layers of support (Tiers 2 & 3) for those who need them. This system is grounded in data-based decision-making, aligned assessment, and a strong school infrastructure, all bolstered by meaningful family and community engagement.
The rise in our graduation rates is just one of the clear examples of the results coming from these strategic changes. We are also seeing similar jumps in many areas across the district, as shown in our routine MTSS screening assessments.
“We are so proud of the progress that these numbers indicate,” said Superintendent Tim Truebenbach. “But most of all, this is a true testament to our amazing staff who put our plans into action and dedicate so much to ensure every student feels supported and seen.”
